I live in Alabama. I have a car seat rear-facing child that I believe originally came with a base, but I have that. It has instructions printed on it for use without the base. If you have a web sight that I could check on the specific law, I would appreciate it. The baby is 8 months old.
Whether or not be used without the base depends on the location. Check the manual. If you do not have the manual, find the model number, number serial and date of manufacture on a label on the seat and go online to the manufacturers and, most likely you can download. there is no law against it. Unless some States have a right to "appropriate use" provisions in their car seat, so technically, if they misuse their breaking the law, lol. Ok is worth noting: Did you get the seat, new or used?
